Barbara Stacey Butler Obituary Surrounded by her family, Barbara Stacey Butler passed away at home on January 21, 2023 after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease. She was born on January 26, 1952 in Ogden, Utah to Phyllis Gardner and Heber Grant Stacey. She was the fourth of six children, three boys and three girls. After graduating from Bonneville High School, Barbara attended Weber State College earning a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with minors in music and early childhood education. Barbara married her eternal companion, Ronald L. Butler on June 19, 1974. They welcomed five children into their family and through their example taught them to love and serve. The family lived in Utah for many years, relocating to Kennewick, Washington in 1992. More recently, Ron and Barbara made their home in Spokane, Washington. Throughout her lifetime she enjoyed the outdoors, sports, sewing, education, and serving in church organizations, but her real passion was always music. Barbara began taking piano lessons at age 7. By the time she was 11, she was the accompanist for her church Primary class. Later she played for the musicals at South Jr. High and Bonneville High where she was honored to be the Sterling Scholar in music. Her college institute choir was invited to sing in the Tabernacle on Temple Square during an evening session of General Conference while Barbara played the Tabernacle organ. Along with her music endeavors, Barbara worked hard in school. She graduated fourth in her class and received an academic scholarship in addition to her music scholarships. In college, Barbara played for the Weber State Singers. She sang with the Meloaires, a womens triple trio and also arranged the music that they sang. Vocal groups she sang in took tours south to Mexico and north to Canada. While serving as an accompanist for the Weber State Institute Male Chorus, Barbara met her future husband, Ron, a member of that group. On a tour in California they became engaged at the Oakland Temple. Later, Barbara accompanied musical productions in the Tri Cities including the Community Consort Columbia choir. This was a select, auditioned music group consisting of music teachers and highly talented musicians. Barbara was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served in various music callings, directed choirs, created medleys, taught youth to play the organ, and helped produce large musical productions. Many performers and audience members were impacted positively by Barbaras willingness to share her musical talents. Barbara also loved teaching, using her skill to bless her family, children in the community, and members of her church. Barbara taught elementary school early on and once her children were all in school, she enjoyed substitute teaching where there was a great need for help in the music classes. More than anything, Barbara cherished her family. She loved raising her children and supporting them in their activities and more recently enjoyed spending time with her 15 grandchildren. Always seeing the best in others, she never missed an opportunity to share her love and to give support for others. Ronald was an incredible husband who lovingly cared for her as her health declined. His love and dedication was evident to her very last day. Barbara is survived by her husband Ronald, her children: Christopher, Camille, Phillip, Douglas and Anthony, her siblings: David, Evelyn, Cheryl and John and many nieces, nephews and grandchildren who love and adore her. She is preceded in death by her parents and oldest brother, Warren. A viewing will be held on January 28th at 9:30 am at 515 S Union Street in Kennewick, WA.
