Betty Lou (Ratliff) Franke

June 16, 1923 - May 28, 2009

Betty Lou (Ratliff) Franke Obituary Betty went to heaven on May 28, 2009. She was born on June 16, 1923, in Spokane to Lloyd and Ivadell Ratliff. She graduated from Rogers High School in 1941 and was married to Arthur Franke on November 8, 1944. While Art was a B-24 pilot during WWII, she worked at Galena/Spokane Army Airfield (currently Fairchild AFB) in the Lend-Lease Program with Russia and coordinated planes being flown there. Betty worked for Fidelity/First Interstate Bank for nearly 30 years. She enjoyed traveling, being involved at church, playing bridge, watching the Mariners, spending time with family and friends, and singing. She is survived by their three daughters Cheryl (Larry) Giesa, Pam (Larry) Shoemaker, and Pat (Dale) Magart; six granddaughters and twelve great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years (Art in 1993) and two sisters (Helen and Joyce). Being a member of Emmanuel for 55 years, services will be held at All Saints (formerly Emmanuel) Lutheran Church , 314 S. Spruce St., Spokane, at 1:00 pm Tuesday June 2, 2009. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Art and Betty Franke Memorial Fund c/o All Saints or to a charity of choice. The family wishes to thank all of the employees at Riverview Care Center for their loving care.
