Carl William Pearson greeted this world on August 14, 1929 in Spokane, WA to parents Hugo and Martha Døderlein. He passed away on August 22 from old age. As a young lad, Carl had an early morning paper route on the South Hill. He took it seriously and eventually became a manager over other paperboys. He took odd jobs after school and loved riding his bike all around. As a teenager he was employed at Morrison Upholstery where he was schooled and learned the trade well. Carl graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in 1947 and continued his education at Eastern Washington University graduating from the School of Business in 1951. During those college years he lived in a Fraternity with boys at the Holter House, and some became life-long friends. Swimming was his sport and he was captain of the team at Eastern specializing in the butterfly.
Having a business degree Carl served our country in the Army managing a supply house in Japan during the Korean War.
Carl met his Norwegian immigrant wife at the Sons of Norway Lodge in Spokane and they were married in 1957 in Norway. After settling here in Spokane he worked as an upholsterer and served the community well his entire career.
Carl and Betsy celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary in January. His survivors include wife Betsy, daughter Kari with her 3 daughters and extended family, Kari’s husband Greg preceding in death. His son Ron and wife Robin and 2 children with extended family. Brother Roy, in SoCal and wife Karen with family and nieces here in Spokane with their families.
Carl will be remembered as a caring and generous man who loved the Lord with all his heart. This fueled and motivated his life that was all about blessing, helping and lifting up others. He will be greatly missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held Sept 7th, 10:00 am at Turning Point Open Bible Church 11911 N Division Spokane, WA 99218.
