Derek Lee Turner Obituary Derek Lee Turner was born December 23rd, 1989 in Auburn, Washington and went to be with the lord on March 12th 2021. The family moved to the west plains area near Spokane, Washington in 1992. Derek was a beautiful blond haired little cutie who was dearly loved and cherished. Derek graduated from Medical Lake High School in 2009. He was a member of FFA and showed his first lamb at the junior livestock show when he was a sophomore. Derek also enjoyed being involved in young life and choir. Derek looked forward to going to MDA summer camp starting at age six and continued going to camp as an adult at Camp Promise in Vaun Washington. He looked forward to going to camp every year and loved re-uniting with long time friends who also had Muscular Dystrophy. He became fond of many camp counselors. Most of all, Derek loved spending time at his family lake cabin. He loved wildlife and was a huge animal lover. He especially loved his golden retrievers, Kodi, Jewel and his service dog Emma who passed away 3-20-2007. Derek loved spending his spare time camping and fishing with his family. He loved traveling to different places and checking off places he had on his bucket list. Derek also loved hanging out with his friends and going to movies and the mall. Derek was a huge Seahawk fan. He never missed a seahawks football game. The rules were anyone at the house while the game was on, had to have a Seahawks jersey or they would bring bad luck. Derek was able to attend a live football game in Seattle and was a guest in the Seahawks suite where he was treated like a Seahawks celebrity. Derek was known for his cool Seahawks room and his famous Seahawks Christmas tree. Derek also loved playing x-box one. He considered himself a pro x-box player and was always up for a challenge and was rarely defeated. History and politics were often his subject to talk about but realized politics was better to keep to himself. He was very educated in history and had the upmost respect for anyone serving in the military. When in High school he was often found talking to the militarily recruiter and became lifetime friends. Derek always had a kind heart for people and was never judgmental of anyone he met. Derek was the most forgiving person to anyone who wronged him. Derek was always up for a conversation and could talk about almost anything. Derek loved his nieces and nephews and was very involved in their life, he wanted to always be the favorite uncle. He was always very thoughtful and would always put a lot of thought into gifts he would buy them for their Birthdays and holidays. He loved having his Seahawks elf leave gifts for them for them to find when they came over. Dereks room was the room they ran to when coming over for visits. His nieces and nephews loved Derek as much as he loved them. Derek was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy at age four. He lost the ability to walk at age 12. Slowly through the years lost his mobility that we all take for granted. With all the trials and tribulations in his life, Derek chose to seek the good things in life and lived life to the fullest. He never complained about what he was given to him and never questioned why, or felt sorry for himself. He went through many painful surgeries and medical procedures throughout life, but never complained. Derek always chose to see the good in everything he went through. Derek had complete faith and trusted the Jesus had a plan for him. He knew all things would be for the good. The last words he spoke was Thank you Jesus before going into a coma and then permanently going to his forever home to be with Jesus.
