Erik Edge

March 22, 2007 - June 24, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Erik Matthew Edge, beloved son and brother.

Official Obituary of Erik Edge

Erik, 17, passed away on June 24th, 2024 from complications from anesthesia during a routine surgery. He was born on March 22, 2007 in Spokane, Washington to his biological parents Angel Harper and Eugene Hunt and lovingly adopted into the Edge family. He was looking forward to his senior year in high school at Gonzaga Preparatory school. His life, while short, was filled with many adventures. He loved to travel, camp with his family, work on his truck and spend time with his friends and animals and help others.

Erik was never afraid to try new things and as a 6 year old boy swam with dolphins in the Bahamas. Over the years he parasailed with his Mom in Hawaii and zip lined around Mt Rushmore, in Moab Utah and most recently zip lined in front of Niagara Falls. He loved all animals, especially his dogs and cat ‘GiGi’. He loved going salmon fishing with his Dad on the Washington coast.

His love for his brother Zack was incredible, he was his anchor and his voice and he loved and nurtured him during Zack’s many surgeries and struggles. The last few years they were building an adult relationship and spent many hours together driving around, listening to music, getting food and watching funny videos together. We will forever cherish the sound of their laughter together and the incredible bond they had.

When he was 14 he accompanied his Dad, Mark, on a mission trip to Honduras for a week to help drill a water well for locals in a small, remote village. Erik was a natural, always a hard worker and always went the extra mile for everyone. He spent his own hard earned money to fill a suitcase full of toys/shoes for the kids in the village. Erik spent a great deal of time playing with them and connecting with them and he gave his heart to them. After returning home he immersed himself in learning Spanish so he could return someday and really communicate.

Preceding him in death are his grandparents Tommy and Mary Edge, Alphonse and Kathleen Canuel, his chosen Grandma Sheila Carroll, Auntie Jane Smith and his Aunt Annie Wolf.

Left to cherish his memory are his parents Mark and Sara and his brother Zack of Cheney, Washington. He left behind his best friend Max and his first love Ashlyn and grandparents Conley and Billie Gay Taylor of Hazen, Arkansas and Duain and Debbie Freeman of Carlisle, Arkansas.

He his mourned by his Uncle Paul Williams (Tammy); Aunts Amy Williams, Tiffany Williams and Cathy Boutte; Uncle Jim Williams (Tara), Uncle Paul Hird and cousins Megan and Ryan Williams, Abby Davis (Austin), Nick Vanags, Cassidy Vanags (Fawn), Molly Williams (Brogan), Kevin and Erin Williams, Josh Wichers (Bree), Jeremiah Wichers and Kiani Jackson.

He is also mourned by his chosen family members: Dykstra Family, Volk Family, Hooper family, Dumlao family and Kenny and Martha Grimmett and so many more.

Erik lived his best life and knew that he was loved. To him, love was a verb, an action, and he dedicated his life to showing those around him that they were cared for and cherished. He was known for spreading KINDNESS. Erik would want each of us to live our lives for others and make our dashes count. Erik signed up to be an organ donor and has given the gift of vision to someone in need. His beautiful eyes saw the world differently than most of us and we are thankful for his giving heart.
