Esther P Auld

April 06, 1937 - October 03, 2022

Esther P Auld Obituary Esther Patrea (Olsen) Auld died October 3, 2022, as her heart gave out after a well-lived, and well-loved life. Esther, a native Spokanite, was the fifth of six children born to Ruth and Torkel Olsen on April 6, 1937. Esther was a proud graduate of Mead High School. She married George Auld, the love of her life, on Sept 7, 1956, in a double wedding ceremony alongside Georges sister, Ruth and Cecil Jorgensen. They celebrated 64 years of marriage before Georges death in 2020. George and Esther raised their three children, Annette, Marci, and Brian to love and value family relationships. They enjoyed trips to the coast for salmon fishing, and many picnics in Manito Park. Esther drove to lessons for ice skating, violin, cello, soccer, girl scouts, campfire girls, cub scouts, and whatever else the kids had going on. Everyone should be loved by someone the way Esther loved her family. Her chosen career was to be a mother. She sewed clothes for her children and their dolls, she cooked dinner most every night, gardened, kept house, and how did she do it all with 3 kids??? We may never know. When George lost his eyesight, Esther added work outside of the home to her list of things that kept her busy. She worked for the phone company, as a church secretary, at Deaconess Hospital, and as an Avon lady. She and George enjoyed being at the family cabin at Loon Lake, where the Auld Ark would take visitors on lake cruises, and where she would prepare her world famous (according to her kids) potato salad and cole slaw. Esther was an avid and skilled ballroom dancer and loved the friends she made dancing. She was a proud member of the Telephone Pioneers, a volunteer network of telecom employees. For many years, she sang in the choir at First Presbyterian Church and was thankful for the churchs care of her when she was unable to be in worship in person. She enjoyed her membership in the Order of the Amaranth, Trinity Court. She served as Royal Matron as well as other local, state, and national offices, where she made lifelong friends. Esther is survived by her three children, Annette Fanslow (Bill), Marci Glass (Justin), and Brian Auld (Marionna); grandchildren, Sarah (Chris), Hannah (Blake), Eric (Ashley), Alden (Katrina), Elliott, Asher, and Bradley; great-grandchildren Ethan and Audrey; her sister Rachel; her brother Richard (Joy); many beloved nieces and nephews, numerous friends, and lots of Avon collectibles. We would like to thank Esthers friends and the staff at Avamere on 57th for their friendship, care, and compassion. After she sold her home of 60 years on Manito Blvd, they helped her feel at home in a new place. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Meals on Wheels, Spokane Humane Society, or Loon Lake Conservancy. A Memorial Service to celebrate Esthers life will be held at First Presbyterian Church in Spokane, WA on Nov 5th at noon.
