With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved son, Ethan Tyler Merritt, on November 14, 2024 in Spokane, Washington, at the age of 20. He was born on September 12, 2004 in Yakima, Washington, to loving parents Nathan and Athena.
As a young boy, Ethan was a bundle of joy and energy, spending every waking hour with toy trains and anything that had wheels. Ethan enjoyed playing with stuffed animals and Legos with his younger brothers, becoming an unrivaled chess-master in his home, and hiking many of the breathtaking trails of the Inland Northwest with his family.
In his early teen years, Ethan made us smile when he donned homemade superhero costumes, and he showed his independence by skateboarding and riding his bike all over Spokane. As he matured, he found his calling in life as an electric guitarist, especially enjoying songs by Metallica. His beloved cats, Luke and Chuck, always brought him solace, and he enjoyed spending time with them.
Ethan will be deeply missed and treasured by his family, sisters Audrey and Megan, brothers Jonathan and Matthew, mother Athena Guglielmo, and father Nathan Merritt.
A memorial service will be held at 2112 West Francis Avenue in Spokane, Washington, on Monday, December 2nd, at 7pm. The funeral service will be held at Heritage Funeral Home, 508 North Government Way, in Spokane, Washington, on Tuesday, December 3rd, at 1pm. He will be laid to rest at Greenwood Memorial Terrace in Spokane, Washington.
