Evelyn G. Swezea Obituary Evelyn Gillette Swezea, age 90 of San Jose, CA passed away on June 4, 2017. Evelyn (known as Lynn) was born on July 5, 1926 to Ernest F. and Geneva M. Gillette in Kearney, Nebraska. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Ernest Gillette, Spokane, WA; and beloved husband of 50 years Gerald (Jerry) Swezea. She is survived by her sister Irene (Gillette) Motis, her niece Marilyn Motis Zoulko and her husband Phillip Zoulko of Highland, CA; Neil Gillette, nephew in Spokane, WA and his daughter Julia Gillette and her children Savanah and Keana of Spokane, WA. Also, niece Mary Ann Gillette McCoy and husband Bill Turina of Bothell, WA and her daughter Kristie Carlon of Seattle, WA and son Eric Carlon, his wife Shannon and children Jake and Luke Carlon of Spokane, WA, nephew Paul Gillette (deceased) and his daughter Audrey Robindeaux and her children of Spokane, WA, niece Lynn Gillette and her son Nicholas Lange of Spokane, WA, nieces Joyce Graham Worley of Portland, OR and Lisa Ahlstrom, plus cousin Wanda Mae (Downey) Huntsman of Paway, CA. Lynn graduated from Kearney HS which had all 12 grades at the same school. She then went with a girl friend to San Diego, CA and both worked at the switchboard of the Navy Hospital. Later she went to Spokane, WA to be near her sister and brother. She worked for Battelle at Hanfords Research department in Richland, WA. She met and dated Gerald (Jerry) Swezea who grew up in St. Maries, ID and was working at Hanford for General Electric. They were married on September 4, 1949. In 1970 Jerry was transferred to GE in San Jose, CA and she was hired by the GE Legal Department as a Legal Secretary. They enjoyed traveling abroad and around America, playing golf and being with their friends, neighbors and family. Their special getaway was Ocean Shores, WA and had many family reunions there. They built two of their homes and furnished them beautifully. When Jerry was diagnosed with Parkinsons Disease, Lynn retired from GE on June 29, 1985 and became his caregiver until May 16, 1999 when he passed away. She was a founder of the Parkinsons support group for caregivers and enjoyed her garden and maintaining her home. Lynn was our family Florence Nightingale as she always had a remedy for whatever ailed us at the time. She was ready to offer help to anyone and was very giving and generous to her family. She will continue to inspire us, is loved and will never be forgotten. A Memorial service will be held at Heritage Funeral Home, Spokane, WA on Saturday, June 17, 2017, at 2:30 pm followed by a graveside service at Riverside Memorial Park.
