In Loving Memory

Celebrating a Life Well-Lived

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Frederick Calvin Schaeffer, who left us on March 6, 2025  at the age of 78. Rick  was a beloved Brother and a cherished friend to many.

Born on July 31 1946, at Wright Patterson AFB in Dayton, Ohio, Rick grew up in an Air Force family, where he lived in many States and Countries.  After graduating from Zaragoza High School in Spain, Rick attended Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, LA,  where he discovered his true passion in life, Computer Programming. Rick left the University in 1968 and joined the US Navy. He worked with Naval Supply systems as a Data Processing Technician. After the Navy Rick went to work as a Software Engineer primarily in the Banking and Financial industries where his talent for programming became evident to all that worked with him. A Guru level programmer in the industry vernacular.

Rick had a heart of gold, always willing to lend a helping hand and offer words of wisdom. Rick had the ability to communicate very effectively both up and down in technical levels.  This was a valuable asset in the financial industry. His kindness, generosity, and vibrant spirit touched the lives of all who knew him.

Throughout his life, Rick enjoyed all music, particularly classical. He was a giving man, bringing joy and laughter to those around .

Rick is survived by his brother and sister, John and Laurel, who will forever hold him in their hearts.

A memorial service will be held at 1:45 PM on April 7, 2025, at the Washington State Veterans Memorial Cemetery where friends and family can gather to celebrate Rick’s remarkable life and share fond memories.

Rick will be dearly missed but never forgotten. His legacy of love, compassion, and dedication will continue to inspire us all.

Rest in peace, Big Brother.
