Glenn W. Calsyn

February 26, 1922 - October 21, 2011

Glenn W. Calsyn Obituary (Age 89) Passed away October 21, 2011 at his long-time home on the West Plains. He was born February 26, 1922 in Spokane to Phillip and Augusta Calsyn who both immigrated from Belgium. He was raised on a farm in the West Plains which later became the "Calsyn Dairy Farm". Glenn enlisted in the Army in 1942 and was stationed at Ft. Lewis and spent time in Alaska and in Seattle at Ft. Lawton and Camp Jordan. After the war he met the love of his life, Essie Brooks on a date and they married on June 22, 1946. He was employed with the Darigold Dairy Plant in Spokane where he churned all the butter sold in Spokane, he retired in 1980 after 34 years. After getting married and living in the city for five years, he started missing the country and farm life and decided to purchase an original 160 acre homestead located on Hayford Road in 1951. He always enjoyed working on his farm, but eventually in 1980 they sold part of the farm and retired. Glenn and Essie were able to enjoy many years in their retirement. In 1981 they purchased a motor home and traveled to their favorite fishing sites Deep Lake, Westport for salmon fishing, Leavenworth and Lake Chelan during the summer months. They started going south during the winter months to Tucson, AZ from 1988-2008. They enjoyed meeting and making new friends and having their family come down to visit and take excursions to Tombstone and the Grand Canyon. Glenn had many friends in the West Plains, being born and raised in the area, and he was always ready to help any neighbors in need. He enjoyed reminiscing about friends and memories since his youth and throughout the years. Glenn has left a good example for his family, even during the last two years of cancer he has maintained a positive attitude, one that we will never forget. He kept working outdoors as much as he could up to the end. He was dearly loved as a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend. He will be greatly missed by his wife Essie; daughter Glenda (David) Beegle; son David (Arlene) Calsyn; grandchildren Belinda (Roberto) Aguirre, Jeffrey and Jeremy Beegle, Cameron and Brett Calsyn; great-grandchildren Alex and Andrew Aguirre. Visitation will be Wed. & Thurs. Oct. 26 & 27, and Thurs. & Fri. Nov. 3 & 4, 8-5PM at Heritage and a Funeral Service 1:00PM Saturday, November 5, 2011
