In the early morning hours of September 25, 2024, just as the bright sun was beginning to peek through the clouds, the heavenly gates opened wide to accept a new Angel, Grant Uriah Munson. Grant proudly walked through the gates to receive his angel wings.
Grant was born March 10, 1949, to Uriah and Julia Munson from Chewelah, WA. He attended school in Hunter’s WA, graduating from Jenkins High School. Grant was the second born of 5 children to Uriah and Julia. The oldest, Raymond (predeceased his siblings), then Grant Uriah, then Marvin, the daughter Rachel, and lastly son Lynn. The family moved to Spokane; WA as Lynn was in high school. Growing up, Grant worked hard to prove himself in every endeavor and was successful! He learned at an early age to work harder to better himself, which he did indeed!
Grant was a calm man with a gentle heart. He never liked or could understand conflict. He was a peace maker, and a personal protection device for his most valued treasure, his three daughters – Pattie, Pennie, and Pollie. Pollie passed away on October 13, 1988, after a horseback riding accident at age 12. The Munson girls as they were referred to a Shiloh Hills Elementary School, were soon introduced to a new young man, a baby brother, Jeremy Michael, as a result of a 2nd marriage their mother had. The term half or step was never used, they were all closely bonded from day one.
One of Grant’s biggest dreams was to serve in the United States Military. Again, with a lot of determination, hard work, studying and flight school, his dream became a reality. He was so proud to wear his uniform and serve our country. He was a Sargent in the Army National Guard and served time in Korea before retiring. He was proud of his service and his uniform and wore it honorably. His daughters celebrated each and every milestone and victory with him. There was never a challenge too big to stop Grant from being the very best soldier, man, father, husband, friend, uncle he could be.
Grant’s first marriage was to Debra Blum and that union produced 3 daughters. He remarried to Rosemary, and together they shared a happy marriage until Rosemary passed in 2017. Grant leaves behind 2 heartbroken daughters, Pattie McFarlain and Pennie Delaney, 8 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. He shared a special bond with coworkers from Pacific Trail, FiberForm/Bayliner.
The world is not a bright, but we know you are with our Lord, Jesus Christ, with the knowledge you are healed and safe with family and friends. A huge thank you to Pennie and Paul Delaney and family for being such wonderful loving caregivers. We deeply appreciate the tough challenge you took on and handled it with such grace and love.
