Harriet Odelia (Wolff) Scott was born on July 26, 1925 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Karl and Rose Wolff. She celebrated her heavenly birth on December 18, 2018. Harriet married the love of her life, Lyle Scott, on April 7, 1947. After moving to Spokane, Harriet and Lyle joined St. Joseph Parish on West Dean Ave. They lived in the West Central neighborhood for 62 years.
She volunteered for the St. Vincent De Paul Society delivering food for local families, many times stopping to add fresh food at her own expense. She worked for Shriner?s Hospital at their original location for ten years. After her retirement Harriet and Lyle traveled extensively throughout Europe and the United States visiting family and friends.
Harriet was a founding committee member of the West Central community outreach program ?Our Place.? 31 years later this program is still operating and serving the West Central area.
One of her greatest joys was watching her ?boys? (the Gonzaga basketball team) play. She was their number one fan, even going to Las Vegas every year until the age of 90.
Harriet was dedicated to her family and nothing made her happier than to be surrounded by friends and family. Harriet leaves a legacy of love to all. She was known by many names - mom, grandma, Oma and friend
She is survived by her sister, Billie Kenney, and her seven children - Randy (Claudia), Brian (Joan), John (Karen), Lucy Weidert, Helen Hughes, Theresa Stiner (Gaylin), Mary Thomas, 23 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren with two more on the way. She was preceded in death by sons Craig and Karl Scott, grandchildren Nichole Stiner, Jimmy Hughes, Jared Scott, sons-in-law Sgt. Tim Thomas, Rich Weidert and Bruce Hughes and daughter-in-law Connie Scott.
Services will be held on Saturday December 29th, 2018 at St. Joseph Church located 1517 W Dean Ave., Spokane, WA at 10:00 am. Rosary to be said Friday the 28th at St. Joseph church at 6 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent in Harriet?s name to Spokane Shriner?s Hospital 911 W 5th Ave, Spokane, WA 99204, Our Place 1509 W College Spokane, WA 99201, or St. Joseph?s Parish 1517 W Dean, Spokane, WA 99201.
