Howard Gordon Kingsbury Obituary Howard Gordon Kingsbury was born October 30, 1918, to Gordon and Eva Kingsbury in Tacoma, Washington. He passed away July 14, 2011 in Spokane. He was raised in the small community of Vaughn, Washington in the south Puget Sound area. He graduated from Vaughn High School in 1937 and from Beutel Business College in Tacoma in 1939. During World War II he served in the US Army. After the war, Howard enrolled at the University of Washington and graduated from the College of Economics and Business in 1949 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Transportation. He was employed for 11 years in various positions by the Chicago, Burlington, and Quincy Railroad (now BNSF). He then worked for 22 years for The Bon Marche (now Macy?s). He retired as an assistant housewares buyer. Howard married Donabel Nelson on June 29, 1945. Four years later they took their first trip abroad. They traveled through southern England and bicycled through Western Europe. Family vacations with their three sons were spent camping and hiking in national parks in the West and later backpacking in the Cascades of Washington. After Howard?s retirement, he and Donabel enjoyed many cruises which took them all over the world. Howard was also an enthusiastic gardener. Survivors include his wife, Donabel; sons Dwight, Brian, and Brent; four grandsons, one sister-in-law, and three nephews. There will be no services per his request.
