James David Birdwell, also known as David, Dave, and Jim, passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at the age of 79, in Spokane, Washington at Holy Family Hospital with dementia which he had for many years.
He was born on June 7, 1944, in Grandview, Washington to his parents Jesse Mae (Brown) Birdwell and Mitchell Dee Birdwell. There were 7 children in his family: Leonard, Rachael, Glenn, Lily, Ken, and Pat who all passed before him.
James David Birdwell married Adele Marie Cromwell on January 3, 1970, in Sunnyside, WA. They had three daughters, Katrina, Tammera, and Crystal. He served 13 years in the Army as a Staff Seargent from January 1963 to January 1976. He was stationed in Germany twice and served there and in Washington, Kansas, and Arizona. He also was a Vietnam Veteran. Later he joined the Army National Guard.
He also held many types of jobs throughout the years including Farming, Logging, working at the Fairchild Air Force Base in Ground Maintenance, and helping his wife with her Adult Family Home Business. Then he worked as a driver/transporter for Curlew Job Corp and Mental Health.
He preferred to work outdoors. In 1984 he also attended SFCC to obtain a Certificate in Accounting and Taxes. His hobbies were reading Western books, crossword puzzles, playing cards, Sudoku, playing pool, and puttering in his garage or his man cave. James was a joker and was always trying to get a laugh. He loved to tease. He also loved his dog, Paisley.
James is survived by his wife Adele Marie Birdwell and his children Katrina Adele Patrick, Tammera Renee Jacobs, and Crystal Leigh Boruvka, and his Grandchildren, Sheldan Forrest Patrick, Stormy Rain Boruvka, Carter Riley Patrick, and River (Meadow Breeze) Boruvka.
