James "Jim" W Allen Obituary
Allen, James W.
?Jim? aka ?Stumpy?
James W., ?Jim?, born to parents, William P. and Mildred D. Allen of Bluefield, West Virginia, on December 27th, 1946, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on April 4th, 2021. Growing up in Bluefield, West Virginia, Jim graduated from Bluefield High School in 1964. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1965 and was stationed at Fairchild Air Force Base in Spokane, Washington. After serving, Jim returned to Bluefield to work as a locomotive engineer on the Norfolk and Western Railroad. He would go on to work for Burlington Northern, settling back in Spokane in 1976, then retiring early in 1989 due to an occupational disability.
Jim met his wife, Karen, in 1995 and they were married in 1998. He became a ?bonus? dad to Karen?s three children, all of whom he had the pleasure in helping to raise. He was their best friend, football coach, confidant, and teacher of finance, work ethics, and cooking! Jim loved riding his Harley Davidson trike with Karen, taking many cross-country trips with the Combat Vet Riders and friends. He had a boisterous, jovial personality and an amazing sense of humor. Jim?s favorite and most memorable trips were on the ?Run for the Wall?, starting in Rancho Cucamonga, California and ending in Washington D.C. at the Vietnam Memorial Wall. Jim had the honor of leading the first trike platoon for the 25th Anniversary of this Veteran?s ride, as their platoon leader.
Jim is preceded in death by his father and mother, as well as, both sets of grandparents. He is survived by his wife, Karen S. Allen of 23 years, his three children, Michelle D. McPherson (Michael), Aimee NK Brayman (Nicholas), both of Spokane, Washington, and Kristopher J. Wiseman (Megan) and two step-grandchildren, Jeremiah and Jacob Sutton, of Everson, Washington, and seven ?grand-doggers?: Riley, Ross, Abbey, Molly, Lily, Rebel, and London.
Jim was loved by many and will be greatly missed. Our sincere thanks to: Dr. Sean Hurley, his nurse, Wendy, and the entire team at Hospice of Spokane for their compassionate care, kindness, and guidance.
A Graveside service will be held at Fairmount Memorial Park on Friday, April 16th, 2021 at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Spokane or the Combat Vet Riders of Spokane.
