Janet Lynn Ahlberg Hughes

September 23, 1966 - July 04, 2020

Janet Lynn Ahlberg Hughes Obituary Janet Lynn Ahlberg Hughes Janet was born September 23, 1966, to Per and Jeanne Ahlberg. From the moment she was born, Janet was headstrong, defiant, and opinionated! Born in the hallway at Wuestoff Hospital in Rockledge, Florida; she refused to wait for a room and made her entrance on her terms. Janet grew up in Houston, Texas with her older sister Annelise Ahlberg Lott and younger sister Amy Ahlberg. They loved spending time as a family going on road trips, spending all summer at the beach and loved going to the skating rink. She also enjoyed playing softball in her twenties. No challenge was too difficult for her. Her beautiful soul and caring heart touched so many lives. Always there and willing to give the shirt off of her own back to cloth another, her love knew no bounds. She was known by all of her daughters' friends as "Momma Hughes". No matter who they brought home, she welcomed them with open arms. Always offering to feed them and let them know they would always be safe in her home. That is just the type of woman Janet was. A heart of gold. She was an amazing mother to her daughters, Amber and Kayla Shuman. They were her "Greatest Accomplishment", she would always say. More than anything, she loved being a Mom. Always making sure to put her children first. Making wonderful memories for her girls growing up. From camping trips in Idaho, to jamming out to her favorite artists like Celine Dion, Beyonc, The Dave Matthew's Band, and many more, she loved to cook and made sure to teach both girls how to as well. Janet met her first husband Charles Shuman when she was 13 years old! They were high-school sweethearts. Going on to have two daughters together, Amber and Kayla. Janet met her second husband, Tim Hughes when she was 30 years old. It was Superbowl Sunday! They hit it off great, sharing some of the same passions. They loved to play softball together, both loved the outdoors, and both enjoyed spending time with their families together. They have been together now for 24 years. Janet went on to be a home caregiver in her late 40s. She loved being able to care for the elderly and bring some joy into their lives. Just one more affirmation that she had a beautiful soul. Janet is preceeded in Death by her father Per Ahlberg and her daughter Kayla Shuman. She leaves behind her husband Tim Hughes, daughter Amber Shuman, mother Jeanne Ahlberg, sister Annelise Ahlberg Lott and husband Gary Lott, sister Amy Ahlberg, sisters in-law Donna Bergdahl and Melody Hughes. As well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and beloved friends. All who loved her dearly. Janet will be truly missed, without a doubt.
