Janice Deloris Thompson Obituary
Janice Deloris Thompson, 67, entered eternal rest February 1, 2023 in Waco, Texas. She was born Janice Deloris Shines on November 19, 1955 in Boise, Idaho to JaOscar Shines Sr. and Catherine Shines.
She graduated from Rogers High School in 1973. She loved all things related to the arts and spent years modeling, singing, and working in artistic venues across the west coast including Fred Astaire Dance studio. She could as easily do the twist as she could waltz. She loved fashion and was known for multiple outfit changes throughout the day. She completed degrees in Art, Cosmetology, and Esthetics. She enjoyed all day binges of Gunsmoke, Bonanza and Star Trek. (She thought Matt Dillon was the best Marshall of all time.) (Much love for Captain Kirk, no offense Picard.)
She was an unflappable scrapper. Shed fight for her family, her principles and even her life. She will be dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by her father JaOscar Shines Sr., mother Catherine Shines; brother JaOscar Shines Jr.; sister Wanda Ann Shines, and sister Patricia Bradford.
She is survived by her husband, Curtis Paul Thompson of 29 years, her two daughters, Latisha Hill (Eric) and Cherice Tetzlaff (Jon), her grandchildren Elliot Hill, Elijah, Zoe and Amelia Tetzlaff; sister, Donna Bennett; brother, Joseph Shines (Masumi), brother-in-law David Bradford (Erica) and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made in her name to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Inland Northwest chapter and the American Heart Association. The family would like to express appreciation for the first responders in Waco, TX for their service and commitment to our loved one.
