January 29, 1953 - January 18, 2019

Joyce "Judy" Jones Obituary ?A Celebration of Life? Evangelist Joyce J. Jones transitioned from her earthly home, on January 18, 2019, following many health victories and challenges. She was born in Spokane, Washington, on January 29, 1953, to the late Pastor Jesse Jerry Jones and Hannah Jones, founders of the New Hope Baptist Church. Joyce is the fourth of seven children. Joyce attended Spokane Public Schools and graduated from Lewis & Clark High School. She attended Community Colleges of Spokane and obtained a certification in Early Childhood Development. Her employment included several positions in the childcare field. It was evident that she loved children and young people unconditionally. Joyce began her journey as a Christian, on June 28, 1969, when she committed her life to Christ, at a Full Gospel Mission Youth Camp, held in Newman Lake, under the leadership of the late Bishop C.E. Hamp. Following her conversion, the love of God penetrated her life deeply and compelled her to turn from the Black Panther Party, to embrace all those who crossed her path, regardless of their backgrounds. Joyce was licensed in 1974, and ordained in 1975, in Oakland, CA under the auspices of the late Bishop U.S. King, President of Christ Holy Sanctified Churches of America. She loved the church and served in many facets of the local church and denomination. Through fasting and prayer, and with the anointing of God on her life, she became a National Evangelist and was received and respected by pastors and leaders wherever she visited. Her powerful singing earned her the title, ?Songbird of the Pacific Northwest.? In 2012, Joyce received a vision to begin Hannah Intercessory Prayer Ministry (HIPM), as a legacy to her mother, Hannah Jones, who was a woman of faith and prayer. The first Annual HIPM Conference was held in 2013, which drew individuals from far and near. Joyce?s vision and work will continue. Two sisters, Jackie Jones and Joanne White, proceeded her in death. She is survived by her brother, Bishop Joel Jerry Jones, and sisters, Josephine Hill, Jessie Marshall and Jeanette Jones, all of Spokane, WA. She claimed her niece, Regan ?LaShawn? Wilson-Watkins and her husband, James Watkins as her own. Sandy McMillan was a caring cousin and helper in time of need.
