It is with profound sadness that I announce the passing of my beloved father Kevin R. Holm.
Kevin was born in Santa Monica, California on January 3rd, 1950, to parents Warren and Paula Holm. He passed away in Spokane Washington on February 19th, 2025, at the age of 75 after a lengthy battle with lung cancer.
He was preceded in death by his father Capt. Warren Holm, his mother Rev. Paula Holm and his older brother Kerry Holm.
He is survived by his daughter Keeley Sandven, Son-In-Law Randy Sandven and his grandchildren Raleigh and Shelby Strickland as well as bonus grandchildren Branen, Dani and Chrissy Sandven.
Kevin graduated from Ventura High School in California class of 1968. He then moved to Colorado for a short time, living with his brother Kerry and his family. They all moved back to Ventura around 1970 where he met Elizabeth, his future wife, and then the whole family ended up moving to Washington around 1979, he remained there until his death. He married Elizabeth in 1980 and in 1986 they had their only child, his daughter Keeley. He later met and married Jennifer in 1997 and gained two stepchildren, Brittany and Christopher. After their divorce he never remarried.
He had a few important careers throughout his life. Some of the most notable were Crew Chief at Ventura Marina, District manager at the Spokane Chronical newspaper, Circulation manager at the Valley Harold newspaper and a construction company called Holm & Holm Construction that him and his brother Kerry started. His longest and last career was working for The Spokane City Fleet Garage starting out as a mechanic and then being promoted to assistant parts manager. He worked there for a loyal 23.5 years before retiring.
His hobbies included sailing his sailboat on Lake Coeur d’ Alene and reading. He had an extensive library with his favorite genres being sci-fi, history, poetry and art. He also loved action movies, rock music and creating things. He constructed lamps and tables out of recycled gears and parts that he collected. His style was unique and edgy with an industrial influence.
Kevin was a very wise, kind, loyal, hard-working man and a very devoted father, grandfather, Uncle, son and brother. He had an amazing sense of humor and left a lasting imprint on those who met him. He had a passion for helping people and donated to many charities such as various children’s fundraisers, Meals on Wheels, the National Wildlife Foundation and political campaigns to name a few. He will be remembered for his generosity and selflessness.
We will be holding a memorial service to honor Kevin’s life on March 21st, 2025, at 1pm at the Heritage Funeral Home 508 N. Government Way Spokane Washington. All who knew and loved Kevin are welcome to come remember this amazing man.
