Laura Prichard

Spokane Valley – Laura M. (Grumbly) Prichard, 84, passed away on March 5, 2025, in Spokane WA.  Laura was the sixth child of eight born to James S. Grumbly and Alice C. Dodds.  She graduated from Rogers HS in 1959 with her GED after marrying the love of her life, Donald L Prichard Sr. They had 48 very full years together until Don passed in 2006.  They had a son, Donald L Prichard Jr. in 1960 and then adopted their daughter, Laurie J (Prichard) Melvin in 1971.  Through Don and Laurie, Laura was given seven grandchildren, Lucas Prichard, Matthew Prichard, Renee Gerimonte, Jerrilyn Salazar, Suzy Rutherford, Rainey Melvin, and Cody Melvin.  Laura also has a few great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. 


Throughout her life, Laura enjoyed various hobbies and activities such as fishing, hunting, camping, bowling, lunch with friends, and she loved to garden.  She took great pride in her yard and all its flowers.  For many years she and her husband could be found out at Silver Beach Resort in Spirit Lake, ID camping, boating, riding wave runners or ATVs with friends and family. 


Laura was always there with a smile, laugh or a joke usually with a cold beer in her hand.  Laura loved her family fiercely and was very protective of them, family gatherings were a favorite of hers, sharing music, dancing, and lots of laughing.  She is survived by her brother Mark Grumbly (Joanne), her daughter Laurie Melvin her grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews.



A funeral service will be held at Heritage Funeral home on March 19, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. with a private viewing starting at 10:00.  There will be a graveside service at Greenwood Memorial Terrace Cemetery and reception to follow at Heritage Funeral Home from 1:00-3:00.
