Lola Brown Obituary Lola Knox, Avey, Brown was born April 22, 1915 in Custer County, Nebraska. She was the eldest daughter of Paul and Edith Knox. She was educated in rural school of central Nebraska, graduating from Ansley, Nebraska to begin her teaching career at 17 with 15 students in a one room school house. Later graduating from University of Nebraska in Kearney, Nebraska. She married Clifford Avey of Dunning Nebraska in 1936. They moved to Port Chicago, California where she met Christ. After Clifford Avey�s death she attended and graduated from Bible Standard Training School, (now New Hope Christian College). She married Clifford Brown on July 3, 1945 and them continued her teaching career in the Lexington, Nebraska City Schools. Together they pastored South Side Mission in Lexington, Nebraska, a small church in Overton, Nebraska and spent 2 years on the mission field in the Virgin Islands. In 1968 they returned to Eugene, Oregon and she worked as teacher and librarian at Bible Standard College (now New Hope Christian College) for a number of years. Upon retirement in 1980, they traveled to see friends and family until her loving husband, Clifford passed away on April 5, 1982. In Sept. 1983, she began Crossroad Ministry with Ywam in Hawaii and then continued it in the Philippians for 12 years. After coming home from the mission field, she made her home in Tacoma near her daughter Anne Newton and them moved to Phoenix, Arizona with them and finally in Spokane, Washington in the home of her son, Paul Brown until her passing on November 25 at 8 am at the age of 104 years old. She was preceded in death by her husbands Clifford Avey, Clifford Brown and Daughter Anne Newton. She is survived by her sons, Paul (Carol) Brown of Spokane, Washington, Vernon (Julie) Brown of LaGrande, Oregon and son-in-law Darwin Newton of Phoenix, Arizona. She has also left a legacy of 11 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren to honor her passing. She also leaves one sister-in-law, Alice Knox, many nieces and nephews that speak highly of her life and her blessing.
