Lynn Wells

Lynn Frances Fackenthall Stimson Wells, 90, long time resident of Nine Mile Falls, WA passed away on January 28, 2025.


Lynn was born on July 3, 1934 in Spokane, WA to Rollo Fackenthall and Elizabeth Carter.  She attended Nine Mile School, graduated from North Central High School 1952 and attended Washington State College & St. Lukes Nursing Program.  She was employed at Crescent Department Store & Dr. J.S. Ainslie in Spokane, Portland Frozen Foods as a Credit Manager, and Schott Real Estate & Appraisal in Kinnelon, NJ.


Lynn's interest in history led her to become a member of Westerners, Spokane Corral, a history club dedicated to Pacific NW History of which she was a former Sheriff and a part of the Editorial Committee, the Stevens County Historical Society, and the Deer Park & Clayton Historical Society.


A Grange member since childhood and eventual WA State Grange Deputy, Lynn was also a member of 4-H, the Stevens County Planning Commission for 10+ years, SCCAT – Stevens County Citizens Action Team, previous member of Lake Spokane Community Church, Advisory Committee for Riverside State Park, Committee for Avista Re-licensing, Little Spokane Protection Association/Spokane River Protection Association, Lewis & Clark Trail Heritage Foundation.


Lynn is survived by her children Diane (Dana) Ogle of Nine Mile Falls, WA, Linda (Wade) Springstead of Mt. Vernon, WA, and Richard Stimson & Naomi Scher of Nine Mile Falls, WA; and her sisters Ann Fackenthall and Christy Fackenthall; 6 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her parents and by Randy Stimson and John Wells.


A Celebration of Life with reception to follow is scheduled on Monday, February 10, 2025 at Heritage Funeral & Cremation in Spokane, WA.  Interment will be held in the spring at Wild Rose Cemetery in Deer Park, WA.





Donations can be made in Lynn’s memory to The Heritage Network, PO Box 1051 Colville, WA  99114 with an emphasis on the Hudson’s Bay Company Fort Colville Bicentennial.  As this cause reflects her deep appreciation for history and community, we know she would be deeply touched by this support.
