Margaret (Marge) Helen Sauv? Obituary
(Age 93)
Margaret Helen Sauv?, born on June 10,1927 to Frank and Bernadette McCarthy Wagner, was called home to be with our Lord on April 17, 2021. Marge is survived by her daughters Denise (Terry) Doyle, Marcia (Mark) Kelly, Doreen (Kelly) Caudill, and sons Marc (Debbie) Sauv?, Donald (Pamela) Sauv?, and Darin (Deanna) Sauv?; along with 14 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren. Marge was preceded in death by her husband Gerald in 2011.
Soon after Marge?s birth, her mother passed away in 1931, and Frank raised Marge on his own. In 1938 they moved, from Greeley, Nebraska to Yakima, Washington, where she attended grade school through high school at St. Joseph?s Academy, graduating in 1946.
Marge entered the workforce as a medical secretary, working in the medical records department at St. Elizabeth?s Hospital for several years, until she married Gerald Sauv? on November 20th, 1954. Together, they moved to Spokane where Marge worked as a secretary in the Surgery Department at Sacred Heart Hospital until the birth of their first baby. Following that, they had five more children, and moved to Seattle, Portland, and Sacramento, but ultimately returned to make a home in Spokane.
While her children were in school, Marge worked as a transcriptionist in several doctor offices part time, then worked 5 years for the ENT clinic. Following that, she worked as a transcriptionist for Safeco Insurance Company for 13 years, and retired after a full career.
Gerald and Marge received the 2004 Washington State Knights of Columbus Family of the Year award. The center of Marge?s life was her love for her husband Gerald. They worked very hard to provide a good home for their family, stressing the importance of a close-knit family. Through the years, they went on many vacations, including Hawaii, Disneyland, Reno, Edmonton, the US Midwest, "snowbird" trips to Arizona and numerous camping trips. Marge was never afraid to laugh at her own mistakes, and had a great sense of humor.
Marge enjoyed cooking, baking, and spending lots of dinner parties surrounded by friends and family. Her favorite times were gathering together with all of the children and grandchildren. She loved watching GU Bulldog basketball and playing cards (especially pinochle) with her family and close friends.
Marge?s rosary will be held on Friday, April 23 at 5:00 pm at Heritage Funeral Home, 508 N. Government Way, Spokane. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 1 at 10:00 am at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 503 N. Walnut Rd., Spokane Valley, WA 99206.
