June 20, 1946 - May 02, 2023
Mark Warfield Obituary Mark Harold Warfield passed away on May 2, 2023, from Lewy body dementia. He was 76 years old. Mark was born on June 20, 1946, in Spokane to Harold and Angionette (Day) Warfield. He was the second of three children in the Warfield family. He lived in Spokane until October of 1961, when the family moved to Bozeman, Montana, where the Warfields would run the womens clothing shop Angionettes for many years. Mark graduated from Bozeman High School in 1964. He went on to attend college at both of Montanas state universities, graduating in pre-med from Montana State University, and with honors from the School of Pharmacy at the University of Montana. Mark enjoyed his college years, where he was an active member of Sigma Phi Epsilon, student government, and the academic honors organization, Fangs. Mark also spoke fondly of college summers spent driving a Coca-Cola truck and working for the U.S. Forest Service stationed at a fire lookout. Marks first post-college position was as a pharmacy intern at St. Johns Hospital in Helena, where he met the woman who would become his wife, Mary Claire Haffey. Mark and Mary Claire married on February 24, 1972. The couple moved to Billings, Montana shortly thereafter, where Mark began a 40-year-long career as a pharmacist with St. Vincents Hospital. Mark and Mary Claire had two children together while living in Billings, Molly Meghan and Kristopher Cory, and where Mark became an active member of the Billings community. He volunteered to be assistant coach for his childrens youth sports teams every year and participated as an active member at St. Pius X Church. Mark was a spiritual person and made several Cursillo weekends, where he also made lifelong friends. Following his retirement in 2012 and Mary Claires retirement in 2015, the couple moved to Spokane Valley to be closer to their daughter and grandchildren. Mark was a nostalgic soul who loved telling stories about his childhood and growing up in Spokane on Graves Road near Whitworth University. He was always a sports fan, loved going to the movies, enjoyed reading non-fiction and biographies, and loved learning about local histories, be it Montana, Spokane, or the northwest more generally. A night owl, Mark liked to stay up and watch the late shows while lifting weights and eating ice cream. He had funny and silly nicknames for nearly everyone and everything, a custom passed down from his father, Harold. In his retirement years, Mark enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, playing the occasional game of golf, and frequent breakfasts out with his friends in Billings. Mark was beloved by everyone who knew him. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend. He was a good, kind, loving, sensitive, and humble person who will be profoundly missed. Mark is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary Claire; daughter, Molly (Aaron Carr-Callen) Parish; grandchildren, Elizabeth and Benjamin Parish, and Breighelle Davis-Warfield; brother Tom (Zeny) Warfield; brother-in-law Jack (Susan) Haffey; sisters-in-law Patricia (Mike Billings) Haffey; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his son, Kristopher Warfield; his sister Carolynne Johnson; his parents, Harold and Angionette Warfield; his mother-in-law, Clara (Clem) Cavanaugh. A special thank you to Pine Ridge Alzheimers Special Care Center and its staff who took such good care of Mark during the last two years of his life. Marks goodness will live on in his family, who continue to feel the gifts of his unconditional love.
