Mary Espinoza Obituary
Spokane native Mary (Green) Espinoza lost her long battle with cancer on Jan. 5, 2023, surrounded at home by her family. She was 61 years old.
Mary was born on Feb. 23, 1961, and was the adopted daughter of Ray and Vera Green of Spokane, where she spent her childhood. She moved to Huntington Beach, CA, in the early 1980s and met the love of her life, Rennie Espinoza, in 1983 when he was a drummer in the rock band Strong Hold. The couple married in the fall of 1984 and welcomed daughter Sara the following spring. The family returned to Spokane in the summer of 1985 and welcomed daughter Cori in late 1986.
Mary was mostly a stay-at-home mom, although she had a couple part-time jobs when the girls were younger. She enjoyed working in her yard and her flower garden with her dogs at her side.
She also was the biggest fan of her husband, who was the drummer for the Ryan Larsen Band for several years. She accompanied Rennie on most of the bands gigs and was a proud band aid along with the wives of Rennies bandmates. He died in June 2021.
In addition to daughters Sara (Shon) Volk and Cori (Zach) Anyan, Mary is survived by her half-sister, Nanc, five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and their families.
A memorial service will be held on Feb. 11 at Nine Mile Falls Community Church, 11223 W. Charles Road in Nine Mile Falls.
