Michael Terry Betow, beloved father, brother, and friend, died on March 10, 2025 after a lengthy and courageous battle with a rare dementia, Posterior Cortical Atrophy. Born in Sacramento, CA on February 14, 1940, Mike lived a life full of adventure, friendship, and generosity.

After graduating with a degree in Civil Engineering from UC Davis, Mike joined the Army. Once discharged, Mike began his career as a Civil Engineer, working on projects in California and Australia. His love of adventure led to him earning his pilot’s license and owning his own Cessna.

After many years of hijinks and solo international travel, Mike found love on a tour bus in Kathmandu. They made a home in Spokane where he built a successful property management business, immersed himself in the beauty of the Pacific NW, and frequently left town to travel the world with his wife and daughter.

With his active and gregarious spirit, Mike led an engaged life, fully immersing himself in his varied activities including aviation, birding, handball, running, skiing, hiking, and camping. Despite his illness, he was able to maintain close relationships with friends and family until the end.

There is no doubt he will be missed by the many who loved him. He is survived by his brother, Jon Betow; his sister, Marcia Miranda; his daughter, Christine Seerveld; and four beautiful grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Anne Marie Betow.

Mike’s memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 25th at Heritage Funeral Home. All are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Alzheimer's Association to support research in rare dementias.
