Randall Newman Obituary Randy Newman Obituary Randy was born in Canova, SD October 19th, 1941 to George and Fern Newman. Randy was the youngest of 3 boys. Rod was 16 and Bob was 3 when Randy was born. At age 3 the family moved to Geddes, SD. His mother shared how Randy was mad because he had to ride in the front of the truck with Mom and Dad while his brothers Rod and Bob got to ride in the back. Rod his oldest brother served in the USMC during WWII. He would write home and ask how his little brothers were. Bob later joined the USMC like his older brother while Randy took his own path joining the ARMY and serving 3 tours in Vietnam. Randys oldest son Mark was born December 4th, 1959. Upon discharging from the ARMY in 1968 he came to Spokane, WA where his family had relocated while he was serving. Darlene, his sister in-law introduced him to Bonnie. Darlene and Bonnie worked together at the phone company. The two were later married April 20th, 1969 at Harvey and Marilyns house. Mark moved to Spokane and lived with them until he graduated from High School. Mark moved to Texas after where he met his wife Terri and they went on to have two sons Blake and Christopher. Randy and Bonnie moved from Mead to their current home where they lived next door to Bob and Barb until they both passed. Randy and Bonnie enjoyed having them as neighbors. Their granddaughter Dany and husband Adam moved in after which has been a blessing. Randys youngest son Mitch was born February 26th, 1984. After graduating High School, he followed in Randys footsteps joining the ARMY. Mitch later met and married Brytney and they went on to have Rodney and Savanah. Bonnie and Randy, aka Papa, have gotten to enjoy watching them grow and love them very much. Over the years Randy had several jobs to include Ferris Equipment, ISC, East Valley School District and Airport Customs. However, the job that he absolutely loved was being a Deputy Sherriff. He was one of the original members of the Spokane Bomb Squad where he was lovingly referred to as Shaky Randy. Unfortunately, due to health reasons he was retired. He always missed it so much. While serving with the SCSO he met some lifelong friends like his partner Gary. Randy overcame several serious health conditions during his later years but after his heart surgery in 2017 he never fully recovered as dementia progressively stole his memory. Randy passed on September 2nd, 2023 with his son Mitch by his side. He is now reunited with his parents, brothers, several nieces, nephews and God. He is now at peace. Randy is survived by his wife of 54 years Bonnie; children, Mark (Terri) and Mitch (Brytney); grandchildren, Blake, Christopher, Rodney and Savanah.
