Raymond Ernest Kafton

Raymond Ernest Kafton, 85, Spokane, WA, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2025. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Noel; his children, Shellie and Kris (Melissa); brother-in-law, Art Osmonson; sister-in-law, Penny Kafton; and many cousins.
After graduating from North Central High School, Ray joined the Navy. He was stationed in Hawaii on the U.S.S. Greenlet, which took him to various ports in Asia, including Japan and Hong Kong. Ray shared his love for travel and sense of adventure with his family. They went camping often and took vacations in their motorhome each summer. He was a cat lover and many times their cats went camping and on vacation with them.
After returning home from the Navy, he apprenticed as a plumber and pipefitter with UA Local 44, where he remained a lifelong member. As a journeyman, he traveled to Alaska, Montana, and various locations across Washington State. He was a hardworking, honest, and loving husband and father, and he was loved and admired by many. He had a '57 Ford Fairlane that was his pride and joy that he took to many car shows. He and Noel were members of The Slicks Car Club and the Hi Flyers Square Dancing Club. He was an active member of Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, where he was a Deacon. He would lend a helping hand at the church and to friends, neighbors and loved ones. He had a great sense of humor and loved to tell stories.
He was preceded in death by his younger brother, Steve; and parents, Dan and Ernestine Kafton. A memorial service will be held at 3pm, March 1, at Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, 1926 W. Chelan, Spokane, WA 99205.
