Rena Niedig Obituary Rena passed away October 28, 2021, at age 97. She was born March 31, 1924, to Barton and Vesta Leake in Raymond, Washington. Her family moved to Tillamook, Oregon in 1936, where she grew up with her two brothers and five sisters. Early in World War II, Rena moved to Long Beach, California and worked as an airplane riveter for Lockheed. After returning to Tillamook, she met Kenneth Plank. They married September 1946. In 1956 they moved to Spokane, where Rena enjoyed being a homemaker and raising their four children. She loved spending time with her family, camping at Priest Lake and snow skiing on Mt. Spokane. She made lifelong friends as a member of the Selkirk Ski Club, (still skiing on her 80th birthday) and enjoyed gardening, traveling and sewing. After her husband Ken�s death in 1978 she was fortunate enough to have a second chance at love. Rena met and married Dean Neidig and shared 35 years with him. She cherished being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. Rena was preceded in death by her first husband Ken, her son Kerry, her son Bill and by her second husband Dean. She is survived by her children, Rod Plank and his wife Patti, Kellogg, ID, Julie Mullin and her husband Mike, Spokane; stepchildren, Sharon Neidig, Port Orchard, WA, Nancy Woods and her husband John, Vacaville, CA, Steven Neidig, Garry Neidig; her sister Lenore Edwards, Bend, OR; and her beautiful grandchildren and great-grandchildren. At her request there will be no memorial service.
