Retired Lt. Colonel Ronald F. Miller Obituary Retired Lt. Colonel Ronald F. Miller passed away on December 26, 2020. He is preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Patricia, who passed away on August 10, 2011. Ron was born and raised in Hood River, Oregon and he and his family moved to St. Louis, Michigan during World War II. Ron joined the Air Force in 1953 after two years at Michigan State University. He earned his undergraduate degree from Eastern Washington University and went on to complete his Masters in Adult Education in 1973. His 23-year military career included Navigator and Weapons Systems Officer and he flew on B-36 bombers and KC-97 aerial tankers while in SAC. He was a cold war era warrior and his mission while flying F-89 and F-101 interceptor aircraft while in the Air National Guard was protecting our country from nuclear threats. Ron taught business classes at SCC (both day and evening) and became the night Administrator for a number of years before being promoted as Dean of the Mechanics and Services Division, where he retired after 20 years in 1993. Ron and Pat enjoyed the outdoors and spent 25 summers at Loon Lake, as well as traveling the Northwest in their 38� motorhome, which the family called QE2. He is survived by his 3 children, Jeff Miller, Julie Miller and Mary Lee, his nephew Martin Block, PhD (Tami) and Greg Larson, nieces Kim Woods (Bob) and Chris Larson (Marc) and grandchildren Kirstin Darry (Patrick), Jon Lee (Alysia) and Jenny Lee and 7 great nieces and nephews, including Katie Strobaugh (Eric) and Robyn. Ron will be greatly missed by his family and grandchildren. We know he is in Heaven with his beloved wife. God Bless and rest in peace Dad. Services will be held Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at 12:30 PM, at Heritage Funeral Home, 508 North Government Way, Spokane, Washington 99224.
