Richard Kinzer

August 21, 1930 - October 23, 2021

Dick Obituary Dick passed away peacefully on October 23rd at Hospice House North; he was born August 21,1930 in Buffalo, Wyoming to Alva and Geraldine Kinzer. Dick graduated from Johnson Country High School in 1948. He enlisted in the Army and served in the Korean War. Upon discharge he enrolled at the University of Wyoming and obtained a BS with Honors and Masters in Physics. He started his teaching/coaching career at Morton High School, Kinear, Wyoming. Then he headed to Campbell High School, Gillette, Wyoming, winning a state basketball championship in 1966. From there he headed to Helena, Montana to teach/coach, winning another state basketball championship in 1971. Final stop in Spokane and Rogers High School where he taught and coached boy�s basketball placing 5th and 8th at state and a state championship in 1986 for girls track. Dick was an outstanding science teacher and successful coach. He loved working with kids and always said �it�s what made me a betterperson�. Summer always brought family and friends home for Hoop Fest and time at the cabin on the Pend Oreille River, hunting, fishing, pinochle games, and pontoon boat floating. His life experiences left him well qualified to tell stories and pass along knowledge to his grandchildren. Dick is survived by his former wife Darlene and four children Michael of Gillette, Wyoming, Mark of Aiken, South Carolina, Lori Poffenroth of Spokane and Scott of Buffalo. Surviving, his wife Ann of Spokane and three step children Michael (Tammy) of Tacoma, Kimberlee Jackson of Spokane and Traci (Leonard) Baker of Bellevue, thirteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
