Robert "Bob Steven McKee Obituary
Passed peacefully, surrounded by his family on Monday, March 16, 2009 after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Bob was born in Toppenish, Washington on May 16, 1947 to Robert E. and Barbara J. McKee. He was raised in Yakima, WA, Cheyenne, WY, and Spokane, WA. In his youth he was an avid member of the Boy Scouts of America, achieving the status of ordeal member of the arrow, and in 1964 he earned his Eagle Scout. In 1965 he graduated from Shadle Park High School. He married Patricia M. Rowatt in Spokane on January 25, 1969. He enlisted with the Air National Guard in 1969 and received an honorable discharge in 1976. For many years he worked in the carpet industry, he was also an amazing builder, owned many small businesses and his last endeavor was a family ran horse tack store. Above all he was a dedicated and loving husband, father and grandfather.
Family was very important to Bob. He was very proud of his girls and enjoyed helping with their hobbies. It was not uncommon to hear him cheering from the grandstands or to see him in the arena raking the barrel course. Whatever his girls decided to do, they knew he would be there.
He loved being outdoors, whether it was for work or play. There were many memorable family camping and fishing trips. Each year he looked forward to the family trip to Ellensburg for the rodeo. Appaloosa horses, heeler dogs and rodeos were always in his thoughts.
Bob is survived by his wife of 40 years, Patricia McKee of Otis Orchards; two daughters, Monica Davis of Spokane Valley, her husband Jim and their sons, Cameron and Payton; Kerry Sanford of Asotin, her husband Chad and their daughters, Jolee and Lacee. Also surviving are his mother, Barbara J. McKee of Spokane; two brothers, Lowell McKee of Colbert and Kim McKee of Lacey, two nieces and three nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert E. McKee.
A memorial service will be held at 1 pm onFriday at Heritage Funeral Home in Spokane, followed by a celebration of life at Mukogawa Fort Wright Institute.
