Robert J Hinnenkamp Obituary Robert Joseph Hinnenkamp Born January 20, 1928, in Salt Lake City, Utah. In 1940 he moved with his family to Long Beach, CA., and in 1944 returned to Salt Lake City. From 1945 until 1947 he served in the Merchant Marines and in the Navy. In 1948 he married Norma Grace McAllister and 4 children were born of the marriage. The marriage ended in 1978 and he married Helen (Pat) Gillespie. From 1951 until 1959 he was employed at Deer Park Pine Industries and at Potlach Industries. During this time he held various offices in the IWA. In 1959 he went to work for the Washington State Dept. of Labor and Industries, where he worked until his retirement in 1987. At that time he held the position of Safety Program Manager with statewide responsibilities. He was a member of the American Society of Safety Engineers and past president of the Inland Empire chapter of that society. He was active in the Washington State Employees� Union and president of the Spokane local of Labor and Industries. He was also past chairman of Labor and Industries� Labor/Management Coordination Committee. Since his retirement, Robert made his home in Spokane. Survivors include his son, Robert Craig Hinnenkamp; daughter, Elizabeth Fortney; 10 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren; and his niece, Sondra Hefte, of Bothell, WA. He was proceeded in death by his wife, Helen Patricia Hinnenkamp; his son, Joseph Atkin Hinnenkamp; his daughter, Karyl Ulvin; and by his parents Joseph and Muriel Hinnenkamp, longtime residents of Deer Park, WA. Robert�s viewing will be Wednesday, April 7th from 1-5pm and his Funeral will be April 8th at 11am, both will be here at Heritage Funeral Home, 508 N Government Way, Spokane, WA 99224.
