Ruth Mattix Obituary Ruth Mattix August 17, 1929 March 30, 2021 Ruth, 91, passed away March 30, 2021 in Liberty Lake. Her Viewing will be Saturday, April 17th from 9am to 11am with a Funeral service to begin at 11am at Heritage Funeral Home. A Graveside will begin at 12:30pm at Greenwood Memorial Terrace. Ruth was born to Francis and Austa (Russell) Dahlstrom in Conrad, MT on August 17, 1929. Ruth spent most of her youth in western Montana and graduated from high school in Hot Springs MT. After graduation she moved to Spokane and married Delbert Mattix on October 25, 1947. They remained in the Spokane area, where they raised their 4 children. They were married for 70 years before Dels passing in 2018. Ruth enjoyed summers at the lake place on Sun-Up Bay at Lake Coeur dAlene. There she entertained many friends and family. And swam for hours. She was an excellent seamstress and quilt maker. She enjoyed music and loved to play the piano. Ruth and Del also enjoyed traveling, near and far, with their many friends. But mostly, she was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. She had a clever sense of humor and a smile that warmed your heart. Everyone who met Ruth loved her. She will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate enough to have crossed paths with her. Ruth was a member of the Spokane Valley Quilt Guild, Den Mother for Boy Scouts, and the YWCA. Ruth is survived by her daughter Delaine (Terry) Britton, three sons: George (Patricia), Terry (Diana), Tom (Pat), one sister, Dona Thompson, nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings, Franklin Roy Dahlstrom and Marjorie Johnson.
