Sara Jones Obituary It is said that Sara Jones was a feisty young lady (93 years old). That could be seen in her refusal to give up when health issues kept mounting. She was determined to celebrate her 90th birthday and she did with a lovely party where she was crowned the queen. On January 3, 2021 she passed away on her dads birthday upon hearing there was a party in Heaven in a time when there are no parties on Earth. She will be dressed to the nines as always in her black velvet skirt with a chilled glass of Beringer Pinot Grigio in her perfectly manicured hand. Her greatest legacy is the fierce determination and love of family she has passed on to her daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Sara was born in Wenatchee on Nov. 24, 1927 to Doris and Edward Cooke. She was welcomed by her brother Jonathan (Ted) and later her sister Patricia was welcomed into the family. She spent her childhood in that area including Okanogan where she developed life-long friendships. As a junior in high school the family moved to Ritzville where she finished high school. In 1949 she hit her most precious jackpot when she met her handsome WWII vet, Sherwood (Woody) Jones, at the Ritzville American Legion Hall. It must have been love at first sight. They decided to get married that night and five weeks later a wedding was held in Ritzville. Sara and Woody settled in Sprague, Woodys hometown. In 1953 they welcomed their daughter Candace and daughter Cindy came along in 1956. In 1961 the Jones family moved to the Spokane Valley where Sara and Woody remained until retirement in 1989 when they built their dream home on The Fairways Golf Course 18th tee. They enjoyed golfing and beautiful sunsets. Woody passed away in 2007 and she was able to stay in the home for 12 more years. They also enjoyed many trips to Reno, Jackpot and Ocean Shores using the lucky numbers of grandchildrens' birthdates to play Keno and Lotto. After moving to Spokane, she began working in the advertising department for Roundup Grocery Company which was later known as West Coast Grocery where she was employed for 25 years. She also held the honor of being Worthy Matron of the Henrietta Chapter (Sprague, WA To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Sara, please visit our Tree Stor
