Steven William Nelson Obituary
(Age 68) Steve W. Nelson passed away October 15, 2017 in Spokane, WA. He was born April 29, 1949 in Spokane to Don and Delores Nelson. Steve attended Great Northern Elementary and North Central High School. He then attended the University of Washington for two years before joining the US Army. He went to officer training school for two years, where he was stationed in Fort Hood, TX and was honorably discharged in August 1971 as E4. Steve married Sheri Nelson November 12, 1971 and moved back to Spokane. He worked at the VA Hospital in engineering as a master locksmith, mason, roofer and carpenter for 37 years; he retired two years ago. Steve loved going on Model T tours, fishing, collecting movies (he always got new releases the day they came out), collecting Star Trek memorabilia and he built his own house in 1980 where he still lived to this day. Steve was a member of the Model T Club of Americas Spokane Chapter, Local #98 Carpenters Union and was the Fire District #10 Battalion Chief for 26 years.
Steve is survived by his wife, Sheri Nelson of Spokane; son, Bill Nelson of Spokane; daughter, Katrina (Dave) Kelter of Wisconsin; step-daughter, Tammy (John) Warner; brothers, Paul, Phil and David Nelson; sisters, Susan Landsverk and Debbie Horton; and six grandchildren, Lori, Steven, Ariannah, Mason, Taylor and Ava. He was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Delores Nelson; grandparents, Charlie and Lulu Nelson and Bessie and Axel Carlson; and stepson, Dennis Davis.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 25th at 2:30pm at Fairmount Memorial Park 5200 W. Wellesley Ave. Spokane, WA 99205 where he will be buried next to his mother and father.
