Vernon F. Laubach Obituary
Vernon F. Laubach, born November 14, 1931, passed peacefully on July 28, 2022. Growing up in the small community of Dutton, Montana, Vern developed a love for horseback riding and life on the farm. In September 1953 he married the love of his life, Eleanor Ellis of Great Falls, Montana, and they left a month later for his three-year commitment to the United States Air Force. Vern had the opportunity to be a fighter pilot but chose instead to do low-flying rescue flights because, as he said, he was more interested in saving lives than taking them. Following his time in the Air Force Vern worked as a foreman on a wheat and cattle ranch and then began a career in banking.
Vern and Eleanor raised three wonderful children together: Sheryl, Karlyn, and Dale. Vern?s career took the family around to various towns in Montana before a long stint in Great Falls. They eventually moved to Spokane, where they lived the remainder of their days.
Vern was a man of deep faith and an avid gardener. He was often in overalls puttering around the yard and loved to show off his beautiful petunias and roses. He was the epitome of gentle strength and loved with a big heart.
Vern was preceded in death by his wife Eleanor and two daughters, Sheryl and Karlyn. His legacy continues on through his son Dale, grandson Kevin, granddaughters Jessica, Katherine, Kelsey, and Sheryl, and great-granddaughter Kimberly.
