Virginia Marian Jones Obituary (Age 92) Passed away July 31, 2016 in Spokane Valley, WA with her family by her side. She was born in Portland, OR on December 21, 1923, graduated from Grant High School and attended Oregon State University. She met her future husband, the late Dr. Edwin L. Jones of Spokane while he was attending Dental School at North Pacific Dental College. They were married in Portland on February 5, 1944, then moved to Spokane where Edwin had his own dental practice in downtown Spokane for 38 years. Edwin and Virginia were married just short of 57 years until Edwin?s death in January 2001. They traveled the U.S. extensively, eventually spending their winters in Mazatlan, Mexico and then Palm Springs, CA. She also enjoyed time with family at their cabin on Newman Lake. Virginia was active in various Spokane organizations including past President of the Spokane District Dental Auxiliary and past President of Hangman Valley Women?s Golf Club. Virginia was a lifelong avid golfer belonging to Downriver, Hangman Valley, MeadowWood, and Twin Lakes Idaho golf clubs. She was proud of having 3 holes in one in her lifetime. Virginia was a volunteer at Valley General Hospital for many years after her husband?s death. Edwin and Virginia raised 4 children, Linda (who preceded them in death in 1969, Kimball E. Jones (Elaine) of Lake Forest Park, WA, Kathleen G. Kenney (Jim) of Marco Island FL, and Daniel L. Jones (Wendy) of Coeur d Alene, ID. She is also survived by her brother Robert Bonds (Nita) Portland, OR. She was blessed to have 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, all who affectionately called her ?GG?. At her request no funeral will be held. There will be a family grave side service at a date yet to be determined. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be given to Spokane Alzheimer?s Association.
