Virginia May Williams

Virginia May Williams Obituary (Age 89) Born May 19, 1922 in Marion, North Dakota. She grew up in Marion and graduated from Marion High School in 1946. After graduation she worked in Springfield, Ohio, New York City, and then moved to Seattle where she attended Business College and worked as a civilian for the Department of Navy. There she met Wilho E. Williams. They married in June of 1954 and moved to Spokane, Washington where they raised three children. She was active in the Ladies Auxiliaries for the Reserve Officer's Association, American Society of Civil Engineers, and Washington Society of Professional Engineers. She was also active in Diakonia, Sons of Norway, and Central Lutheran Church, especially their annual Scandinavian Bazaar. She loved to play Bridge, do elaborate cross-stitch, sew, and spend summers at the family cabin on Hayden Lake, Idaho. She was an extraordinary cook and author of two cookbooks, specializing in Norwegian baking. She was an incredible Mother and Grandmother and will be deeply missed by her family and many friends. Virginia is preceded in death by her parents Nels and Anna Knudsen and sister Margaret Elsner. She is survived by her husband Wilho, son Craig (Lori) and grandsons Travis and Brett, son Kevin (Karen) and grandchildren Brian, Katelynn, and Megan, daughter Kim, Brother-in-law Paul Elsner, and nephews David and Jay Elsner, numerous cousins and relatives in Norway. The family would like to thank Drs. John Floyd, Lisa Stiller, Patrick Soto, Christopher Lee, Hakan Kaya, and the Staff of Hospice House of Spokane for the wonderful care provided to Virginia. Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, December 16, at Central Lutheran Church, 512 South Bernard, Spokane, WA, 99204 . In lieu of flowers the family has suggested that memorial donations be made to Central Lutheran Church or a charitable organization of your choosing.
