CW2 Wesley Hubert Pogue, born the oldest of 6 children to Barney Hubert Pogue and Mable Elnora (Reitan) Pogue in Whittier California, June 30, 1933. He died January 28, 2021 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane WA at the age of 87.
Wes was survived by his wife Beverly Gail (Young) Pogue, Daughter Dawn L (Pogue) Moen and husband Douglas Moen, Son Jeffrey S Pogue, and 4 Grandchildren: Cody and wife Miranda (Munsell) Moen, Tiffany Moen, and Brian Moen, all of Spokane WA. Four Brothers: Kenneth and wife JoAnne (Vine) Pogue of Newport WA, Robert Pogue and Richard Pogue of Auburn WA and Dale Pogue of Marysville WA. And he was preceded in death by his Father Barney, Mother Mabel, and sister Donna Mae Pogue.
Wes managed and taught music at Ulmer Music Store in Auburn WA. It was here he met and hired Beverly (soon his bride to be) for her first job out of high school. (Yep, she married her first boss, and he remained her boss for 60 years, Hahaha).
Wes spent 23 years in the US Army, US Army Reserves, and Washington Army National Guard. He retired as a Chief Warrant Officer 2 (CW2) serving in the Korean War and Vietnam era. He oversaw the personnel and finance department, and spent many years preparing units for Niki Missile sites ?IG Inspections.? He received 12 consecutive years of Superior Ratings from the Adjutant General of the United States and was given a special certificate of accommodation for his service. He was excellent at his job to say the least.
When Wes retired from the military, he went into business with his wife. They became franchise owners of ?Acorn Party Sales? a Tupperware distributorship serving three states in the Northwest (Eastern Washington, Northern Idaho, and Northwestern Montana) for 15 years. When retiring they became members of the ?Tupperware Alumni Group?, in which Bev remains and loves. ?
He was a member of several Assembly of God Churches in WA: Auburn, Kenmore, and Valley Assembly here in Spokane, and assisted in planting Grace Harvest Fellowship (now known as ?ONE Spokane?) also in Spokane WA. Wes loved working with the production team, writing, designed, and directing large plays for Churches. He was talented, creative, and was often referred to as the ?Go to Man with all the answers.? His talents and hobbies included: Oil Painting, Landscaping, Gardening, and Floral Design. But mowing the lawn with his John Deer Tractor, being outdoors in the mountains, camping, and hiking were some of his favorites.
Now, Wes is enjoying the beauty of heaven! His son Jeff said, ?I sure hope he has a big yard to mow, that will surely keep him happy!? We will miss you Wes but know we will meet again in our heavenly home.
Wes is laid to rest at Washington State Veterans Cemetery, Medical Lake WA. He will be ?In our hearts forever.? A Memorial will be held at later date in Spokane WA. Contact the family for more information!
