Yvonne Beverly (Brown) Powell Obituary POWELL (BROWN), Yvonne Beverly (Age 85) passed from this earth on Saturday, August 6, 2022 in Spokane Valley, WA. She was born on September 27, 1936 in Salt Lake City, UT to Harold Franklin Brown, Sr. and Yvonne Mabel Brown (Taufer), the oldest of six children. In 1941, her parents moved to Ogden, UT and then in 1949 to Spokane, WA. She graduated from John R. Rogers High School in 1954. During her time at Rogers, she was a Pirette and sang in the Girls Glee Club. After graduation, she worked a short time with her mother at a retail store in downtown Spokane before attending LDS Business College (her father�s alma mater) in Salt Lake City for a one-year program. She learned to type as well as stenography and operating a keypunch machine. Upon finishing LDS Business College, she started working at First Lincoln Federal Bank in downtown Spokane. In April of 1958, she met our Dad at an LDS Church Dance called the Golden Gleamers in Spokane, WA. Roy proposed on Mother�s Day in 1958 and they were married in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple on August 15, 1958 by Harold B. Lee, who would later become the 11th President of the LDS church in 1972. After their marriage they moved to Logan, UT where Roy attended Utah State University for a year. They had five children: Kevin, Karin, Mark, Lisa and Camille. Once Beverly & Roy started their family, Beverly stayed at home and raised the children. In January of 1976, they moved from Ayer, WA to Spokane, WA where Beverly would reside until her passing. She was active in the local PTA at East Farms Elementary School, where she was given the Golden Acorn award in the early 1980�s. She volunteered at the school as well as being an active member of the LDS Church, serving in various positions throughout the years. She sang alto in the church choir. She was preceded in death by her husband, Grant LeRoy Powell in 2020; her parents Harold Franklin Brown, Sr and Yvonne Mabel Brown (Taufer) in 2007 and 1998 respectively; her siblings George Brown (Judy 2019) in 2014; Harold Brown, Jr. (Shirley 2021) in 2005; Victor Brown (Jerine 1982 and Charlyne 1999) in 2019; Susan Foster Binnall in 2019; and Tim Brown in 2009. She is survived by her five children Kevin Powell (Sandy) of Orem, UT; Karin Bigney (Keith) of Rancho Cordova, CA; Mark Powell of Selma, TX; Lisa Powell of Spokane Valley, WA; and Camille Blackmore of Spokane Valley, WA; 17 grandchildren Jason Craddock (Christine), Debbie Craddock, Justin Craddock (Sonia), Chelsea Castaldo (Tyler), Julie Powell, Cody Powell, Morgan Biggs, Jesse Powell, Brandon Bigney, Paul Powell, Courtney Bigney, Lindsay Powell, Clayton Bigney, Jalen Bigney, Luke Blackmore, Mia Blackmore, Aaron Blackmore and 12 great-grandchildren Nathan Craddock, Emily Craddock, Katelyn Craddock, Tyler Craddock, Alex Craddock, Taylor Washburn, Spencer Washburn, James Craddock, Debbie Craddock, Christopher Castaldo, Irelynn Anne Powell and Marley James Derochie. Visitation will be from 9:30-11:00 AM on Saturday, August 27, 2022. Funeral services will follow at 11:30 AM. Both the visitation and the funeral will be held at the LDS Church located at 23515 E. Boone Avenue, Liberty Lake, WA 99019. Interment will take place at 2:30 PM that afternoon at Greenwood Memorial Terrace, 211 N Government Way, Spokane, Washington, 99224 in the Deseret lawn section.
